Research Interest:

We are interested in performing a variety of chemical reactions and PET radiotracer syntheses using microfluidic platforms and related hybrid systems. We collaborated closely with Crump faculty members, UCLA cyclotron facility, and molecular imaging groups to develop: (1) microfluidic-based chemistry synthesizers for radiolabeling small-molecule-based PET tracers; (2) a flexible, module-based platform capable of adopting different chemical/radiochemical syntheses; (3) a reliable system to produce 18F-tagged prosthetic groups for biomolecules labeling; (4) a miniature purification/QC/QA system that can be interfaced with microfluidic devices; and (5) characterization methods using on-line mass spectrometer to identify reaction products directly from microfluidic synthesizers, as well as assay their composition and purity.
